Poster Unveiled for Tallinn Competition Entry “The Good Daughter”

Spanish filmmaker Júlia de Paz Solvas, recognized as one of the most promising voices in contemporary cinema, is set to premiere her second feature film, The Good Daughter, at the main competition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. The event will take place in the Estonian capital from 7 to 23 November.

The film is produced by Astra Pictures and Avalon, in co-production with Krater Films. It follows the emotional journey of Carmela, a young girl whose world changes after her father, once her hero, receives a restraining order for alleged gender-based violence against her mother.

“A tender yet piercing portrayal of a young girl caught between family conflict and institutional indifference.”

Carmela now sees her father only during supervised visits, where love and turmoil coexist. As she faces an adult world unwilling to listen and institutions that appear indifferent, she embodies both resilience and confusion — a poignant reflection of youth caught in the crossfire of justice and emotion.
