The Atlanta Falcons have once again changed their kicker lineup following a critical miss that cost them a game. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the team has released Parker Romo and added veteran Zane Gonzalez to their roster.
“Romo missed a crucial extra point last week in the Falcons’ loss to the New England Patriots that would have tied the game.”
Romo, a 28-year-old native of Peachtree City, appeared in seven games for Atlanta, completing 11 of 14 field-goal attempts. He was signed earlier this season to fill in for Younghoe Koo, who failed to convert a 44-yard attempt in the closing seconds of the Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
To replace Romo, the Falcons have brought in 30-year-old Zane Gonzalez. He boasts a career record of 96 successful field goals on 120 attempts and has converted 146 of 153 extra points. Reports state that Gonzalez worked out with the team earlier this week in Flowery Branch.
The Falcons released Parker Romo after a costly miss and turned to experienced kicker Zane Gonzalez, hoping to stabilize their special teams performance.
