The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced on Friday that thousands of campaign posters displayed across Iraq will be recycled after the election. The materials will be repurposed to promote environmental awareness.
“A number of election campaign posters across Baghdad and other provinces will be recycled into new environmental awareness materials that comply with environmental and municipal standards and do not distort the appearance of the city, in accordance with applicable laws,”
the IHEC stated on its official website.
Political posters have covered streets across Iraq during the election period. This new recycling program represents an attempt to reduce waste and promote public responsibility toward environmental conservation after the vote.
