A woman was expelled from a Southern California Gold’s Gym following a viral encounter with a transgender person inside the locker room. The incident sparked reactions online, including from fitness influencer Joey Swoll.
Tish Hyman was undressing in the women's locker room when she noticed a naked trans person behind her. She addressed the individual as “sir,” which led to a tense response.
“You can’t tell me nothing, b****, I’m a woman.”
Hyman shared her experience publicly, explaining the shock she felt and the reaction that followed:
“I was naked. I was drying up, oiling up, and I turn around, and there’s a man in the locker room. So, of course, I’m shocked, I thought maybe I missed a sign, workers working, so I just said, sir, I didn’t even get to say a sentence or anything. I was just figuring out that there was a man behind me naked. I faced him and said sir, and he goes, ‘You can’t tell me nothing B-word, I’m a woman.’ I’m like, what? Listen guys, I don’t have anything against anyone. I’ve never been presented with this in my whole entire life. I started screaming and asking for help.”
She emphasized concerns about safety and privacy in the locker room environment, which she believes led to her membership cancellation.
Joey Swoll responded to the controversy, supporting the idea that women seeking a secure and comfortable locker room experience are not being transphobic.
Women aren’t transphobic for wanting a safe and comfortable locker room.
Hyman also voiced frustration about the gym’s environment and the treatment she received:
“Gold’s Gym, grown men with big dicks in the women’s locker room, and that’s why I’m getting kicked out and I want to make sure the girls know.”
This incident highlights the ongoing debate about transgender access to gender-specific spaces and the challenges it poses for facility policies.
