At the America Business Forum in Miami, U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff stated that Washington is urging Israel to permit Hamas militants besieged in Rafah, southern Gaza, to leave the area.
“Hamas has always made it clear that it is ready to hand over its weapons,” Witkoff said, noting that this message was also conveyed to Jared Kushner, advisor to President Donald Trump.
Witkoff expressed optimism that the Palestinian movement will fulfill its pledge, emphasizing that, if it does, it will benefit from an ambitious development plan for Gaza. He described the initiative as significantly better than previous proposals and containing a substantial job creation program aimed at revitalizing the region.
Witkoff confirmed Hamas’s willingness to disarm under international supervision and linked this to U.S. efforts promoting Gaza’s economic revival through new development projects.
