If you’re planning a trip to the Rockies this weekend, pack more than just hiking boots—a snowsuit might be essential. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a snowfall warning for Alberta’s mountain areas, including Banff and near Lake Louise.
Heavy, wet snow is expected to begin Friday evening and continue through Saturday night. Snow accumulation is forecasted to reach between 10 to 15 centimetres over a 24-hour period.
“Travel will likely be challenging. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
Travelers are advised to plan ahead, drive carefully, allow extra time, keep headlights on, slow down, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
