A 58-year-old Calgary man, Randall Arsenault, faces charges following an investigation into a suspected overdose death in the Mînî Thnî area of the Stoney Nakoda Nations earlier this month.
Arsenault has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was arrested on October 29 in Calgary after a joint operation by the Cochrane RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Calgary Police Service Gang Suppression Team.
During the arrest, officers confiscated approximately 69.5 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The investigation started in early October when Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected overdose death in Mînî Thnî. The CRU’s probe aimed to uncover the source of the drugs involved, ultimately leading them to Arsenault in Calgary.
