Newcomer Spotlight: Abby Herndon

As the Malveaux era enters its second season on the Plains, the Tigers welcome a dynamic group of new players wearing Orange and Blue for the first time at Jane B. Moore Field. Among them is left-handed pitcher Abby Herndon from Killen, Alabama.

Herndon joins Auburn after spending her first collegiate year at Ole Miss. Although she didn’t appear in a game that season, her standout high school career includes being named a three-time all-state honoree at Brooks High School.

Q&A with Abby Herndon

How old were you when you first started playing softball?

Herndon: I was four when I started tee ball, and about six when I began playing softball.

Who has influenced your softball career the most?

Herndon: We would always be in the yard, hitting off the tee and practicing from a very young age.

Who was a player you admired as a young athlete?

Herndon: I got her book when I was ten and read it. She was always a player I watched.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Herndon: Keep trusting the process and enjoy every moment on the field.
