Starbucks issued an apology after its limited-edition Bearista cup quickly sold out, causing a viral backlash over scarce availability and disappointed customers.
The latest Starbucks cup gained viral popularity due to its adorable teddy bear shape paired with its very limited supply. A post on Starbucks’ Instagram from Tuesday, November 4, invited fans to share who was planning to get the cup on November 6.
“Who’s getting a bearista cup on 11/6 lmk,”
The 20-ounce glass cup features a translucent bear wearing a green Starbucks-branded beanie and holding a miniature plastic Starbucks cup. A green-and-white straw emerges from the bear’s cap, adding to its charm.
Excitement immediately followed the cup’s announcement. Bachelor alum Raven Gates expressed,
“If I don’t get one of these I’ll cry.”
Influencer Elyse Myers added,
“Oh my god I LOVE THIS.”
The Bearista cups officially went on sale starting November 6.
Despite high demand, very few customers managed to purchase the cup. Fans called for a re-release online:
Many noted that local Starbucks locations only received one or two Bearista cups, making them extremely rare and fueling disappointment.
The limited-edition Starbucks Bearista cup’s cuteness was matched only by its scarcity, resulting in widespread excitement and frustration among fans.
