Geno Smith showed toughness on Thursday night, returning to the game after an injury scare during the Raiders' 10-7 loss to the Denver Broncos. The defeat dropped the Las Vegas Raiders to a 2-7 record for the season.
Smith faced intense pressure in his first Raiders-Broncos matchup in Week 10. Denver’s defensive line sacked him six times, limiting him to 143 yards without a touchdown and throwing an interception. The Raiders punted eight times, more than the points they scored.
“I never wanted to leave my teammates out there. I feel it’s a big responsibility of mine to be out there and do whatever I can to help,”
Smith said, despite a noticeable limp after briefly leaving the game with an injury.
The Raiders managed only 188 total yards and scored in single digits for the fourth time this season, an NFL-high. After Ashton Jeanty’s rushing touchdown in the first quarter, the team failed to score in the remaining 48 minutes.
Both teams struggled offensively, resulting in a sloppy game with more penalties (11 each) than first downs (10 each).
Geno Smith’s commitment to his team was clear despite injury, but the Raiders’ offensive challenges persisted in a tough, penalty-filled loss to the Broncos.
