I Was Not Expecting Prince Harry’s Answer About Becoming a U.S. Citizen

Prince Harry’s Unexpected Take on U.S. Citizenship

Five years have passed since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to the United States after stepping back from their royal duties. They’ve since settled in a beautiful Montecito, California home, established Archewell Productions with Netflix projects, and enjoyed raising their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Life in America seems to suit them well, which made Prince Harry’s recent statement about U.S. citizenship particularly surprising. During his appearance on the podcast Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know, he was asked directly during the “Royal Rapid Fire” segment whether he planned to pursue U.S. citizenship.

“There are no plans to be, at this point,” said Prince Harry.

Born in London as a member of the British royal family, Harry continues to hold his British passport. The revelation caught many off guard, as some expected that after years of living in California, a change in citizenship might be on the horizon. Still, it seems clear that other priorities currently take precedence.

Beyond questions of nationality, Harry appears to enjoy everyday life in Los Angeles. On October 28, he and Meghan were seen at Dodger Stadium, enthusiastically supporting the Los Angeles Dodgers as they played the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of the 2025 World Series.

Author’s Summary

Prince Harry, content with his life in California, isn’t planning to pursue U.S. citizenship anytime soon despite five years of living stateside with Meghan and their family.
