A new country will officially join the Abraham Accords, the series of normalization agreements between Israel and Muslim-majority countries, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy announced on Thursday, Anadolu reports.
Steve Witkoff, US Special Envoy to the Middle East, declined to reveal which country is joining but confirmed the announcement would be made Thursday evening at an event in Washington.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said during a business forum in Miami, Florida.
President Trump is scheduled to host leaders from five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan — at the White House Thursday evening. It remains unclear whether the announcement will be made during this dinner, though the President is expected to be present for any significant news.
The Abraham Accords are a set of agreements that were originally signed during President Trump’s first term, aimed at normalizing relations between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries.
