NEW YORK, November 6 — US special presidential envoy for peace missions Steve Witkoff expressed confidence that, in time, both sides of the conflict in Ukraine will recognize that a diplomatic resolution could pave the way for economic progress.
“We had straightforward, honest conversations with both sides about the need to take this opportunity,”
Witkoff said during a business forum in Miami, Florida.
“I am hopeful that in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, leaders will make courageous decisions and seize that chance.”
Russia has repeatedly signaled its readiness for a diplomatic solution to the crisis. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that protecting national interests requires addressing the root causes of the conflict — a goal that President Vladimir Putin has consistently pursued.
Steve Witkoff emphasized that only a diplomatic path can unlock lasting stability and economic recovery in relations between Russia and Ukraine.
