Suns Guard Jalen Green Set to Make Season Debut Versus Clippers

After being acquired in the Kevin Durant trade, Jalen Green had yet to play for the Phoenix Suns due to a right hamstring strain. This changed on Thursday when the Suns faced the Los Angeles Clippers.

The final piece of the major NBA offseason trade involving Kevin Durant was completed as Green, a 23-year-old guard, made his debut for the Suns. He previously averaged 20.1 points per game over four seasons with the Houston Rockets. The hamstring injury sidelined him for the Suns’ entire preseason and the first eight regular-season games.

In the 2025 offseason trade, the Suns acquired Green along with Dillon Brooks and the No. 10 overall pick used to select Khaman Maluach, while Kevin Durant was sent to Houston.

Despite being new to the team and not having played in a Suns uniform before, Green expressed a strong sense of belonging and connection with the team.

“Coming here, I got to know (the team), and I picked up with everybody very fast. Everyone is cool and has the same goals and mentality, so that makes it easy when you’re chasing that same goal with somebody. … From the coaching staff, to the players, to the front office, everyone is just great. The relationships molded fast.”

Green’s remarks highlight his quick integration and positive outlook within the Suns organization.

Author's summary: Jalen Green, sidelined by injury since joining the Suns in a major trade, is finally debuting and quickly fitting in with his new team.
