9News Melbourne is preparing to bid farewell to one of its most recognizable personalities, as longtime weather presenter Livinia Nixon will deliver her final forecast on November 18.
Livinia Nixon, who first joined the network in 1997 and became the weather presenter in 2004, announced her decision to step away from the role after two decades on air.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role," she said. "My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them."
The 50-year-old presenter explained that family was her main priority as her two sons approach their senior schooling years.
"It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
Nixon described her time at 9News as both transformative and rewarding, emphasizing that presenting the weather had shaped her life and career in profound ways.
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me."
She added with warmth that her sons were enthusiastic about the change.
"When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Although she is stepping down from her weeknight weather duties, Nixon plans to remain part of the Nine Network in other capacities.
