Seeking a third straight win, the Minnesota Wild twice led by one goal and managed to tie the game at 3-3, but the Carolina Hurricanes responded each time to secure a 4-3 victory.
After a strong start in a challenging setting, the Hurricanes found answers for every strategy the Wild deployed. Matt Boldy broke a scoring drought with two goals, while Brock Faber contributed his second goal of the season.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t find a way to win the hockey game, but it was a hard-fought battle by both teams,” said Wild coach John Hynes. “They had pushes and surges, and we had pushes and surges. But, unfortunately, we weren’t the team to win it tonight.”
Filip Gustavsson, in his 12th start for the Wild, had a rough beginning as Carolina scored four goals on eight early shots. He then steadied and finished with 23 saves.
“This is a really good team we’re playing against, and we’re matching up against them pretty good today,” Gustavsson said. He added that his improvement during the game was not due to any specific adjustment.
The Wild battled hard but were ultimately unable to stop the Hurricanes' relentless comeback.
Summary: Despite strong efforts and early leads, Minnesota struggled to maintain momentum as Carolina’s persistent rally secured a 4-3 win.
