Livinia Nixon to Step Down from 9News Weather
After 20 years as a beloved weather presenter in Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has decided to leave her role on 9News Melbourne. She joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the position of 9News Melbourne weather presenter in 2004.
Reason for the Departure
Livinia is choosing to focus more on her family as her sons begin their senior years of schooling. Her final weather presentation will be on Tuesday, 18 November.
Continuing Role at Nine Network
Although Livinia will step back from weather presenting, she will remain an important part of the Nine Network. She will continue hosting popular travel shows such as Getaway and Postcards.
Livinia Nixon’s Statement
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.
Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’
I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
