Prince Harry apologized to Canada after receiving criticism for wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers hat during the World Series game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The incident happened during Game 4 at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, on October 28.
The Duke of Sussex wore the Dodgers cap instead of showing support for the Toronto Blue Jays, the only Canadian team in Major League Baseball (MLB). His choice sparked backlash as fans expected him to support a team from a Commonwealth country, especially since his father, King Charles, is head of state for Canada and other Commonwealth realms.
On November 6, Harry addressed the controversy in an interview with CTV News. He expressed his affection for Canada and said:
“Well, firstly, I would like to apologise to Canada for wearing it.”
He added humorously, explaining that he was "under duress" during the event:
“There wasn't much choice since I was invited to the Los Angeles Dodgers box or the dugout by the owner himself.”
Despite the criticism, Harry's apology and explanation shed light on the circumstances influencing his choice of team support during the event.
