First and Last Bakery, LLC Recalls Tomato Sauce Products Due to Health Risk

First and Last Bakery, LLC, based in Hartford, CT, is recalling certain tomato sauce products following a health risk identified by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.

Recalled Products

Distribution Details

These products were distributed in Connecticut and Massachusetts through Big Y and possibly other retailers. Distribution began on September 22, 2025, and continued through October 28, 2025.

Reason for Recall

The sauces were made without an approved scheduled process or proper evaluation to confirm the process's safety. This can result in the growth of Clostridium botulinum toxin, which causes botulism, a potentially deadly form of food poisoning.

Health Risks and Symptoms

Botulism can cause symptoms such as general weakness, dizziness, double vision, trouble speaking or swallowing, difficulty breathing, muscle weakness, abdominal swelling, and constipation.

Current Measures

The recalled products are sold in 26 FL OZ jars with specific names and UPC codes (not provided here).

Author’s summary: First and Last Bakery withdraws specific tomato sauces over botulism risks, halting sales and production to protect consumers in CT and MA.
