Qatar launch mega-money move to host World Club Challenge

Qatar's Mega-Money Offer to Host World Club Challenge

Organisers of the World Club Challenge received a seven-figure offer from Qatar to host the prestigious match between the Super League and NRL champions abroad. Despite the financial appeal and Qatar's eagerness, Hull KR and Brisbane Broncos have declined this offer.

Decision to Keep the Game in the UK

Both clubs prefer to keep the fixture in the UK, where a sell-out crowd is anticipated following Wigan’s 2024 success against Penrith Panthers. Hull KR is set to host the match in Hull next year.

Venue Considerations in Hull

The Robins aim to stage the game in Hull and considered alternative venues such as Leeds United’s Elland Road. However, the MKM Stadium, home to cross-city rivals Hull FC, is expected to be chosen.

“Following our Grand Final success, we were considering taking the game to the MKM Stadium,” said CEO Paul Lakin.

Scheduling Challenges

Final arrangements for the fixture are underway, with a strong belief that the game will proceed as planned in the UK.
