Kevin Durant, the NBA star, shared his views on marriage and relationships during an interview on Bobbi Althoff’s podcast, Not This Again. At 37, Durant revealed he does not want to get married and prefers relationships with fewer expectations.
Durant expressed skepticism about marriage due to the high divorce rates. “I think divorce is actually more realistic… ‘cause I mean, the percent is higher,” he said, acknowledging that about half of marriages end in divorce.
"That's not good odds."
When reminded that the odds he faces in basketball might be worse, Durant responded, “Yeah. But still, that's like banking on the rest, like, forever though. … I don't know if I want to take those odds.”
Durant clarified that his hesitation is less about marriage itself and more about what the relationship entails. He questioned, “Do I want to be with this somebody every day? Hang with the same person every day?”
The NBA star also mentioned that he never envisioned a wedding day for himself. “I never really dreamt of having a wedding day. It was never really when I go to weddings. This is cool,” Durant shared.
Kevin Durant prefers relationships without the formal commitment of marriage, valuing fewer expectations and expressing doubts about the long-term odds of staying married.
