A remarkable display of remembrance and community spirit will be exhibited at St Editha’s Church this Remembrance Sunday, featuring a poppy-themed art installation created by Maureen, a 76-year-old tenant from Tamworth’s Annandale sheltered housing scheme.
Maureen, with the help of her daughter and granddaughter, crafted an exquisite poppy installation that will be proudly positioned at the entrance of St Editha’s Church. She will also accompany the Mayor of Tamworth during the Remembrance Sunday commemoration.
The artwork was made in the Annandale communal lounge, which became a creative space with support from Maureen’s family and the Scheme Manager at Tamworth Borough Council. The installation features numerous handcrafted poppies, each representing courage, sacrifice, and service.
“It is an absolute honour to see this beautiful tribute come to life in Tamworth. Maureen’s dedication to remembering those who served, alongside her family’s involvement, is truly inspiring.”
This project holds personal meaning for Maureen, reflecting her own time in service and making the tribute deeply significant.
Maureen’s family-backed poppy art installation embodies a heartfelt tribute to service and sacrifice, enriching Tamworth’s Remembrance Sunday observance with personal and community spirit.
