Cooperation in trade, transportation, and border management between Türkiye and Syria is advancing rapidly. According to Mazen Alloush, director of public relations at the Syrian General Authority for Land and Sea Ports, the transit transport agreement will be fully operational this month.
Alloush emphasized frequent meetings with Turkish officials, stating,
“We hold meetings with Turkish officials almost weekly. When a problem arises, we establish mutual communication and resolve it within our means.”
He also expressed gratitude for Ankara's support to Damascus “since liberation,” highlighting active cooperation in trade and border management.
Alloush noted a preliminary decision by Turkish authorities to allow Syrians with dual citizenship to enter Türkiye using Syrian-plated vehicles. The implementation of this policy will begin soon.
This month, Türkiye and Syria will fully activate their transit transport agreement, enhancing trade and border cooperation while simplifying visa procedures for drivers and residents with dual citizenship.
