The Sacramento Kings have waived Isaac Jones to create space on their roster for Precious Achiuwa.
At 4:52 pm, the Kings officially signed Achiuwa and waived Jones, confirmed by a team press release.
Earlier at 9:17 am, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that the Kings reached an agreement with free agent forward/center Precious Achiuwa on a one-year, minimum-salary contract.
To accommodate Achiuwa, Sacramento planned to waive second-year forward Isaac Jones.
The Kings have been struggling in the frontcourt after losing Keegan Murray to a thumb injury last month. With their starting power forward out, they’ve relied on smaller lineups and given more minutes than expected to rookies Nique Clifford and Dylan Cardwell early in the season.
Precious Achiuwa, 26, started his NBA career with the Miami Heat as a first-round pick. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors in the 2021 offseason as part of the Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade and spent over two seasons there.
In December 2023, he was traded to the New York Knicks along with OG Anunoby. After a season and a half in New York, Achiuwa signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Heat this fall but did not make Miami’s regular season roster due to luxury tax concerns.
