A new international passenger rail service connecting Mohan Railway Station in Mengla County, Yunnan Province, and Boten Railway Station in Laos began trial operations on Monday, announced the Mengla County Integrated Media Center.
This line is the first commuter-style international passenger connection between China and Laos, running five round-trips daily in each direction. The 16-kilometer journey takes approximately 50 minutes, including stops at both countries’ border ports to accommodate passenger boarding and customs clearance.
Xia Mo, deputy general manager of Yunnan Tourism Co Ltd, the line’s operator, stated: “We will uphold the service philosophy of safety, professionalism, and dedication to ensure travelers experience the convenience and warmth of this road of friendship.”
The service directly links with the China–Laos Railway, allowing seamless road–rail intermodal transport for international travelers. According to the report, it is expected to improve cross-border travel convenience and strengthen regional connectivity.
