The Manx Amateur Drama Federation (MADF) celebrated its 75th anniversary this year and has announced it will not hold its Easter Festival of Plays in 2026. Instead, the federation will take a year off and plans to return with the full festival in 2027.
However, MADF will continue with the popular Festival of One Act Plays, scheduled for March 12-14 at the Erin Arts Centre. Drama societies from the UK and the island are invited to submit short plays, which will be performed and judged by Sue Doherty from the Guild of Drama Adjudicators.
"Sue Doherty, as Head of Performing Arts at St Julie’s High School in Liverpool, championed access to the arts for all young people. Many of her students went on to train at RADA, Guildhall, and LIPA and achieved success on stage and screen, including BAFTA winner Jodie Comer."
Sue Doherty has also worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, led City of Culture projects, and created impactful verbatim theatre addressing social issues.
The MADF pauses its full Easter Festival for 2026 but keeps the spirit alive with a one act play festival judged by an experienced theatre professional.
