Young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma and spinner Varun Chakravarthy continue to hold the top positions in the latest ICC Men’s T20 Players’ Rankings released Wednesday.
Abhishek Sharma leads the batters list with 925 rating points, ahead of England’s Phil Salt and teammate Tilak Verma. Suryakumar Yadav is the only other Indian batsman in the top 10, ranked eighth.
Abhishek Sharma was the leading run-scorer for India during the Asia Cup earlier this year.
Varun Chakravarthy remains the number one T20I bowler. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood climbed two spots to tenth following his strong performances at home against India. Chakravarthy is followed by West Indies’ Akeal Hosein and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. No other Indian bowler ranks in the top 10.
Hardik Pandya is the sole Indian all-rounder in the top 10, positioned fourth. Leading this category is Pakistan’s Saim Ayub, followed by Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and West Indies’ Roston Chase.
With several Pakistani players making gains, there are positive signs for the team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which they will host later this year.
Hardik Pandya is the lone Indian to feature in the top 10 of T20 all-rounders’ rankings at the fourth spot.
