Tiffany Haddish opened up about the progress of the much-anticipated sequel to her 2017 hit comedy, Girls Trip, in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. The 45-year-old actress revealed they had a recent meeting and expect to begin filming next year.
Haddish mentioned that shooting might start in the spring of 2026, aiming to wrap things up before summer. She expressed excitement about the project, saying,
“She ready. I think it’s gonna be great. I think it’s going to be so much fun. Me and the girls were all talking. It was so funny, it was so good.”
Girls Trip featured Haddish alongside Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Queen Latifah. The film tells the story of four friends reconnecting during a trip to New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival. Its success propelled Haddish to stardom.
Earlier in 2025, producer Will Packer confirmed the sequel was in development on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. He hinted at a new exotic location and mentioned having the first script draft ready:
“We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time. And we’re going to add maybe some new ladies.”
