Swimming Australia has denounced fake anti-LGBTQ+ quotes attributed to Mollie O’Callaghan about trans athlete Lia Thomas.
Several posts on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and X/Twitter, falsely claimed that Olympic 200m freestyle champion Mollie O’Callaghan made statements against trans inclusion in sport and specifically targeted Lia Thomas.
"I will not participate in the 2028 Olympics if that man, Lia Thomas, is allowed to compete. Let him swim in the men’s category, he shouldn’t be here. Sharing a pool with Lia Thomas is an insult and a disgrace."
