In the series All Her Fault, Sarah Snook plays Marissa, a woman facing every parent's worst nightmare. When she arrives to pick up her five-year-old son Milo from a playdate, she discovers the playdate never happened and that Milo has disappeared. This event starts a gripping mystery that challenges everything Marissa believed she knew.
“When they gave me the book and I read it and found out what the twist was, I couldn’t say no, it was just so juicy and there’s so much to explore,” Snook told Deadline.
As Marissa, her friend Jenny (played by Dakota Fanning), and her husband (Jake Lacy) work to uncover the truth, the story exposes the unequal distribution of responsibilities in their households. Both women realize they manage demanding careers yet remain burdened with most of the household chores and childcare.
The title All Her Fault reflects how even Milo’s disappearance is perceived as somehow the women's responsibility.
Snook says, “I think it’s a conversation that’s been certainly happening in my life, in my friendship circles for the last, certainly five years at least, and coming more to the public forefront, about the invisible labor that women tend to take on in a relationship that has children involved.”
Author's summary: The show All Her Fault reveals the hidden labor women bear in balancing work, family, and household duties, spotlighting the emotional and practical toll within relationships.
