Miss Universe 2025: Nawat Itsaragrisil's Apology Amid Tensions

The 2025 Miss Universe pageant, held in Thailand, has been marked by significant tension, prompting Nawat Itsaragrisil, the vice president for Asia and Oceania of the Miss Universe Organisation (MUO) and head of the local organizing committee, to apologize to the contestants during the Live Opening Ceremony on November 5.

“Everybody knows the past few days have been a lot of pressure. I think you must understand that the pressure is a lot. But I have not intended to harm anyone,” said Nawat.

He expressed his respect for all participants and stated his regret:

“I respect all of you. But I have to say that I am so sorry that it happened. I want to offer this opportunity to apologise to the delegates if anyone was not comfortable with what happened. I’m sorry.”

Nawat also issued an apology to the global audience:

“I am sorry for the Miss Universe fans around the world.”

Incident Involving Miss Universe Mexico

On November 4, the MUO released a statement reaffirming its commitment to collaborate closely with the host community, the Miss Grand International Organization (MGI), and all local partners to ensure the pageant’s success.

Earlier, on November 4, Nawat faced criticism after publicly shaming Miss Universe Mexico, Fatima Bosch, during a live broadcast. This incident led reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Kjær Theilvig, and several other contestants to walk out in solidarity with Miss Mexico.

The Miss Universe Organisation emphasized its dedication to working with local partners and the host community to address challenges and maintain the event’s integrity.
