At a press conference held at the office of former city president Ashok Ambure on Wednesday, BJP leaders accused the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) of conducting irregularities in the voter registration process to favor the ruling Shinde group.
Political tensions have risen ahead of the upcoming Palghar Municipal Council elections. The BJP accused the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) of tampering with the voter list in cooperation with the local administration. Ambure and ex-corporator Akshay Sankhe, who recently joined BJP, stated the Shinde faction was “misusing power and manipulating” the voter rolls.
The BJP leaders claimed,
“We have submitted documentary evidence and formally lodged complaints with authorities on October 28.”
The party criticized the current voter list as “seriously flawed” due to these discrepancies.
Forms required for voter additions or transfers, Form A and Form B, were reportedly filled out in bulk with malicious intent. Many forms lacked essential information such as addresses or proof of residence, yet were still accepted by the administration.
