First and Last Bakery, LLC, a Connecticut-based company, has issued a recall of three tomato sauce products amid health concerns. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced this recall, emphasizing food safety and consumer caution.
All sauces come in 26 FL OZ jars and were distributed to Big Y and Stop & Shop stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts since September 22, 2025. They have Use By Dates of September 2026.
The FDA report states these sauces were produced without an approved manufacturing schedule or proper evaluation. This oversight increases the risk of contamination by Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium responsible for botulism.
Botulism is a severe and potentially fatal form of food poisoning that can cause serious health complications.
Symptoms of botulism can be severe and include muscle weakness, difficulty breathing, and in extreme cases, respiratory failure and death.
Customers who purchased any of these sauces should not consume them and return the products to the point of sale for a refund or disposal.
“This recall highlights the importance of rigorous food safety standards to prevent potentially fatal health risks,” the FDA cautioned.
Summary: The recall of these tomato sauces due to botulism risk underscores the critical need for strict food production protocols to safeguard public health.
