Stones and Change

Recently, I visited Albany, New York, for a brief trip. I wandered without a plan to explore the city.

I walked along State Street, Albany's original "Main Street" and one of the oldest streets in the city. It led me to the Empire State Plaza, where government buildings are located.

New York State Capitol

The Capitol building was completed in 1899 at a cost of $25 million, approximately $794 million today. It was the most expensive government building of its time.

The project began in 1867, with three architectural teams working on the building over 32 years.
