U.Va. Removes Supplemental Essay Prompt
The University of Virginia has made changes to its undergraduate application for 2025-2026, removing a supplemental essay prompt.
This change comes after the Supreme Court's 2023 reversal of race-based affirmative action.
Previously, applicants had to submit a supplemental essay about their individual background that would serve as a strength at the University.

In the 2022-2023 application cycle, various writing samples accompanied the main Common App essay, a personal statement of around 600 words.
