A milestone shipment of 1,000 tons of cassava starch has been exported from Laos to China by full train for the first time. The consignment was produced by a local cassava starch processing factory and organized by China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd.
This export marks a key step in strengthening agricultural trade cooperation between Laos and China. It also highlights the growing role of the China-Laos Railway in facilitating efficient cross-border transportation.
Officials noted that the use of full-train logistics helps reduce transportation time and costs, while enabling smoother customs processing along the route. Such initiatives are expected to boost regional economic integration and create new trade opportunities in agricultural products.
“The first full cassava starch export train symbolizes a new stage of Laos-China cooperation in modern logistics and agricultural trade,” local media reported.
Cassava starch is one of Laos’ major agricultural products with rising global demand. The development of railway-based logistics has improved export efficiency, helping Lao producers connect more directly to the Chinese market.
