Clare Smyth’s celebrated restaurant Oncore, located in the Crown Sydney resort and casino, will close its doors early next year after four years of operation. The venue marked Smyth’s first and only venture outside the United Kingdom.
Over the years, Oncore received strong critical acclaim, earning three hats from The Good Food Guide, Australia’s most respected restaurant rating system. This recognition placed it among the world’s finest dining establishments.
Neither Clare Smyth nor Crown Resorts, the owner of Crown Sydney, have explained the reason behind the closure. The decision aligns with Smyth’s plans to expand her presence in London, where two new restaurants are in development.
“We’re immensely proud of our team’s dedication and the exceptional standard of service they’ve delivered. Being honoured with three Good Food Guide hats consecutively is a testament to them and their remarkable talent. Together with Clare Smyth, we have created a dining experience that sets a benchmark for excellence, and we are delighted to have shared that with so many wonderful guests.”
Oncore’s final dinner service is scheduled for 28 February.
Clare Smyth concludes her Sydney chapter as Oncore closes in early 2026, paving the way for two new London openings that promise to uphold her exceptional culinary legacy.
